The Corinthia Nevskij Palace hotel combines two buildings, a neo-classical mansion built by Arthur Lange in 1861 and the former home of the Samoilov family which overlooks Stremyannaya street. The main building housed the Hotel Hermes from 1920 to 1957 and the Baltiiskaya Hotel from 1958 to 1989. The completely renovated Corinthia hotel was opened in 1993 and until 2002 was under Sheraton management (Starwood Hotels & Resorts). All of the major historical sites including the Hermitage museum and the Winter Palace, the Alexander Nevsky monastery, St Isaacs Cathedral are nearby and easily accessible from the hotel, as are the major business districts.
